BFGoodrich Tires

BFGoodrich is the American tire brand that introduced the all-terrain tire — the first one, back in 1976 — and then spent fifty years proving it in the desert. Founded in 1870 in Akron, Ohio, and owned by Michelin since 1990, it's the rare brand whose marketing is just its race record: 34 overall SCORE Baja 1000 victories, including a 20-year streak of overall wins. When your tires have that resume, you don't need adjectives.

The blunt Sparky X take

Here's the truth: nobody buys BFGoodrich for quiet highway commuting. You buy it because you drive a truck, a Jeep, a 4Runner, or a full-size SUV, and you want tires that laugh at cottage roads, construction sites, and unplowed side streets in February. The All-Terrain T/A KO3 is the default answer — the current benchmark all-terrain, genuinely good off-road and genuinely livable on the 401.

Where BFGoodrich wins: all-terrain and mud-terrain tires, full stop. Nobody does this category better. Where it's merely fine: passenger-car tires. The Advantage line is a competent touring tire, but it's not why anyone walks into a tire shop asking for BFG.

Pricing sits in the middle — more than the Korean value brands, less than Michelin-badged equivalents. For trucks and SUVs, the value math usually works: you're paying for sidewall construction and tread compounds that survive things that kill cheaper tires.

BFGoodrich winter tires

Winter T/A KSI — BFG's dedicated winter tire, and a proper Canadian winter tire: it carries the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rating for severe snow service. The directional tread, high-density silica compound, and 3D locking sipes are built for snow, ice, slush, and the freeze-thaw mess of a GTA winter. It's made for cars and SUVs — the right call if your daily driver isn't a truck.

Here's the move most truck owners miss: the All-Terrain T/A KO3 also carries the 3PMSF severe-snow rating. If you drive a pickup or full-size SUV, you can run KO3s year-round as your winter-rated tire. A dedicated winter like the KSI still wins on glare ice, but the KO3 is the best one-tire answer in the BFG lineup for a Canadian truck.

BFGoodrich all-season and all-weather tires

Advantage Control — the mainstream touring all-season. Quiet, comfortable, long-wearing, unexciting. It's the tire for the family sedan that just needs to work. Not the reason to buy this brand, but a solid tire if you're already here.

g-Force COMP-2 A/S PLUS — the enthusiast pick. An ultra-high-performance all-season for sporty cars and drivers who care about steering feel. Genuine grip in the dry, respectable manners in light snow for a performance tire. If your car has a sport badge and you drive year-round, this is the BFG to look at.

BFGoodrich SUV and truck tires

This is the main event.

All-Terrain T/A KO3 — the current benchmark, launched in 2024 after a decade of racing and development. New tread pattern and all-terrain compound for better wear and gravel-road durability, full-depth 3D locking sipes for even wear over the long haul, CoreGard sidewall technology carried over from BFG's Baja race tires, and serrated shoulders with Mud-Phobic bars that shed mud and bite in snow. Raised white letters available for the classic look. And it carries the 3PMSF severe-snow rating, so it's a legitimate year-round tire for an Ontario truck.

Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 — the serious off-road tire. Massive tread blocks, stupid-tough sidewalls, and a howl on the highway that tells everyone exactly what you bought. For trail rigs, not daily drivers. Know what you're buying.

Trail-Terrain T/A — the crossover compromise. For RAV4s, CR-Vs, and Highlanders whose off-roading tops out at gravel cottage roads and snowy driveways. Quieter and better-mannered than the KO3, tougher-looking and more capable than a highway all-season. The honest pick for most GTA SUV owners who like the look but live on pavement. It carries the 3PMSF rating too.

Advantage T/A Sport LT — highway all-season for pickups and SUVs that never leave asphalt. If your truck is a commuter that occasionally hauls, this is the quiet, long-wearing, fuel-friendly answer.

BFGoodrich tires for Tesla and EVs

Honest answer: BFGoodrich doesn't make EV-specific tires. There's no BFG equivalent of an iON or an Elect-marked compound — the brand's soul is trucks, dirt, and desert racing, not silent electric commuting.

That said, KO3s end up on Cybertrucks, Rivians, and electric pickups all the time, because that's what those vehicles are for. The tradeoffs are real: an aggressive all-terrain costs you range and adds road noise compared to a street tire — physics doesn't negotiate. If your EV actually leaves pavement, the KO3 is a legitimate choice. If it doesn't, buy a proper EV or touring tire instead and save your battery.

We install both in your driveway: call (647) 819-0490.

The current rebate

BFGoodrich runs mail-in rebates through the year — typically a prepaid card with the purchase of four eligible tires, with the KO3 and KM3 usually sitting at the top tier. Check the current tire rebates before you buy — if there's a live BFG offer, we'll make sure you get it.

Who should buy BFGoodrich — and who shouldn't

Buy BFGoodrich if: you drive a truck, Jeep, 4Runner, or full-size SUV and want the best all-terrain tires in the business, you want one tire that handles Ontario winters without a seasonal swap, or you like your tires with fifty years of desert-racing receipts.

Skip BFGoodrich if: you drive a sedan or crossover that never leaves pavement (a good touring tire will be quieter, cheaper, and longer-wearing), or absolute silence on the highway is your top priority — an all-terrain hums, and the KM3 roars.

Either way, the tires get installed the same way: in your driveway, by TIA-certified techs, usually in about an hour.

FAQs

Is BFGoodrich a good tire brand?

Yes — especially for trucks and SUVs. BFGoodrich introduced the first all-terrain tire in 1976, has 34 overall SCORE Baja 1000 victories including a 20-year streak of overall wins, and has been owned by Michelin since 1990. You're getting Michelin's engineering resources behind one of the most off-road-obsessed brands in the business.

Are BFGoodrich tires good for Ontario winters?

Yes. The Winter T/A KSI is a dedicated winter tire with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rating for severe snow service — built for snow, ice, and slush. Truck and SUV owners can also run the All-Terrain T/A KO3 year-round, since it carries the 3PMSF rating too.

What is the BFGoodrich KO3 best for?

Pickup trucks, Jeeps, 4Runners, and full-size SUVs that split time between pavement and dirt. The All-Terrain T/A KO3 combines genuine off-road capability — CoreGard sidewalls derived from BFG's Baja race tires, plus Mud-Phobic bars that shed mud and bite in snow — with livable highway manners and a 3PMSF severe-snow rating, so it works as a year-round tire in Ontario.

Is the KO3 good in snow?

Yes. The KO3 carries the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rating for severe snow service. BFGoodrich improved its snow traction over the previous generation with a new tread pattern, serrated shoulders, and Mud-Phobic bars. A dedicated winter tire like the Winter T/A KSI still wins on glare ice, but the KO3 is a legitimate winter-rated tire.

Does Sparky X install BFGoodrich tires at my home?

Yes. We are a fully mobile tire shop serving the GTA and Durham Region. We bring the tires to your driveway or workplace and install them on site — winter changeovers, new tire installations, and complete tire and wheel packages. Call (647) 819-0490 or book online.

Are BFGoodrich all-terrain tires noisy on the highway?

Honestly, yes — more than a highway tire. The KO3's highway manners are good for an all-terrain, but an aggressive tread hums at speed; that's the price of off-road grip. The Trail-Terrain T/A is quieter if your SUV mostly stays on pavement, and the Mud-Terrain KM3 is louder still. If silence is your priority, buy a touring tire instead.

Should I buy BFGoodrich or pay more for Michelin?

They're the same company — Michelin has owned BFGoodrich since 1990. Buy BFGoodrich when you want off-road capability: nothing in Michelin's own lineup matches the KO3 or KM3 for trucks and trail use. Buy Michelin when you want highway refinement, touring comfort, or EV-specific tires. Call us at (647) 819-0490 and we'll point you at the right one for your vehicle.
