Cooper has been building tires in America for over a century, and since Goodyear bought the company in 2021, the lineup has quietly gotten sharper — old names retired, new flagships launched. If your Cooper knowledge is more than a couple of years old, it's out of date: the legendary Discoverer AT3 4S is gone, replaced by the Discoverer Road+Trail AT, and the heavy-duty AT3 XLT is gone too, replaced by the Discoverer Stronghold AT. For the full story on the brand, read our Cooper brand profile.
Here's what matters for Ontario: Cooper's best tires are winter-rated without demanding winter-tire prices. Two of our three picks carry the 3PMSF severe-snow rating, which is exactly what a GTA driver needs.
Here are the three Coopers actually worth your money in 2026, ranked — and yes, we sell and install all of them at your driveway across the GTA.
#1 — Discoverer Road+Trail AT: the do-everything flagship
Launched in 2023 as the official replacement for the Discoverer AT3 4S, the Road+Trail AT is Cooper's current all-terrain flagship — and the best Cooper tire you can buy. It keeps the 3PMSF severe-snow rating, adds a 65,000-mile (105,000 km) limited treadwear warranty, and rides quieter on pavement than the tire it replaced thanks to Road Glide Technology. Winter Grip center-lug technology and EnduraGuard construction round out a tire that's genuinely at home on the 401 in January and on a cottage trail in July.
Honest framing: it's an on-road-leaning all-terrain, not a mud tire — if your weekends are deep bog, look at the Stronghold AT. For everyone else driving a truck, SUV, or crossover in Ontario, this is the one-tire answer. P-metric SUV and truck sizes.
#2 — Discoverer EnduraMax: the all-weather workhorse
The EnduraMax is Cooper's all-weather tire — not all-season, all-weather, with the 3PMSF severe-snow rating to prove it. One set, twelve months, no seasonal changeovers: that's the pitch, and for crossover and SUV drivers who don't want the hassle of two sets, it's legitimate. A 60,000-mile (90,000 km) treadwear warranty plus a 36-month road hazard warranty and a 45-day test drive back it up, and the Armor Belt construction with extra steel belts is built for the long haul. Sizes from 16 to 20 inches cover the crossover/SUV heart of the GTA market.
#3 — ProControl: the long-haul touring tire
For sedans, coupes, and drivers who live on highways: the ProControl is Cooper's touring flagship, launched under Goodyear ownership, with the longest passenger-car warranty Cooper offers — 70,000 miles. Even Wear Arc Technology, Armor Belt construction, and water-evacuation grooves aimed squarely at wet grip. Over 60 sizes from 16 to 22 inches, H/V/W rated.
Honest caveat: it's not 3PMSF-rated. For nine months of the year it's superb; for deep winter, pair it with a dedicated winter set like the Evolution Winter below.
Honorable mention: Evolution Winter
The dedicated winter tire none of the top three fully covers. 3PMSF-rated, studdable (stud-pin capable) for the truly committed, Snow-Groove technology with a sawtooth center rib, in 15 to 18 inches — and it's the budget-friendly answer in Cooper's winter range. We see it in the supply chain regularly, so availability is rarely the problem.
The quick verdict
- Truck, SUV, or crossover — one tire for everything: Discoverer Road+Trail AT. The flagship.
- Crossover/SUV, no seasonal changeovers: Discoverer EnduraMax — winter-rated all-weather.
- Sedan or coupe, quiet and long-lasting: ProControl — 70,000-mile warranty, but not a winter tire.
- Dedicated winter on a budget: Evolution Winter — 3PMSF and studdable.
